AND THIS SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

DON’T MISS

the PRINCE vs. MICHAEL JACKSON experience

colors

Prince and associated artists go toe-to-toe on the dance floor against Michael and the Jackson family during this ultimate party! This face-off always promises to be a dance marathon as dj’s mix album cuts, remixes, rare tracks and classics from their extensive music collections to battle it out on the turntables. This dance party event features music from Prince, Michael, The Time, The Jackson 5, Sheila E., Janet Jackson, Vanity 6 and many more. Who will win, The Purple One or the King of Pop? Who cares… this is the perfect night out to lounge with your friends, make some new friends, get your drink on, dance your ass off and celebrate the music of both these pop stars.

The Prince vs Michael Experience is meant to celebrate the music of two of the biggest pop cultural icons of our generation. It is done with love and mutual respect for both artists. The experience is presented by bombhiphop.com who have successfully produced 70 of these events in San Francisco as well as Seattle, Portland, Bend and Vancouver, BC. “As a concept for a DJ battle, Prince vs. Michael is brilliant,” writes SF Weekly’s Hiya Swanhuyser.

“For SEVEN years now, Dave Paul (proprietor of hip-hop label Bomb Records) has hosted and DJ’ed at the brilliant “Prince vs. Michael Jackson” parties. As selections of hits, rarities, and remixes from both artists are presented over the course of the evening, audience members square off in funky battle, holding signs bearing the mug of their favored entertainer to judge which one is the true king of pop. This sure ain’t the place for cynics, but Darling Nikki’s and Dirty Diana’s are all welcome to participate.” – SF WEEKLY

HT_MILK_Flyer_FT

The Upper Haight gets a soul revival when the original tight night invades Milk on Saturday, February 6th. Special guest DJ MATTHEW AFRICA alongside strongholds, Asti Spumanti, Johnny Deeper and Vinnie Esparza commit to the liberation of your previously subdued booty. It’s time to submit your inner freak to the brilliance of the disco ball.

A mainstay in San Francisco, Hella Tight proceeds to come back again and again with music that really matters. This unstoppable party has been delivering the best in soul, funk, underground disco, Afro-Latin & reggae for the last 10 years.

Special guest DJ, Matthew Africa has been a Bay area institution for over fifteen years. Besides being one of the dopest club DJs, he hosts a radio show and scripts a blog dedicated to unearthing musical nuggets. His musical depth of knowledge goes from early funk, soul and hip-hop to rare fuzzed out psych. We are truly honored that he will be blessing us with his elections.

coming soon

THE MILK BAR brings you live music. Check out some of the hottest indie rock and electronica bands the Bay Area has to offer!

OPENING NIGHT

WEDNESDAY MARCH 3RD 2010

Graphic1

THE BRUISES

Balancing the tightrope between indie and mainstream rock, THE BRUISES embrace incredibly catchy choruses, dueling female vocal harmonies, and a serrated double guitar attack. Tipping their hats to acts such as Lush, that dog., and Sleater-Kinney, the band has forged a sound that is both unique and timeless.

EX-BOYFRIENDS

“Infectious and upbeat power pop that is much more fun to experience than any breakup I’ve ever had. Dear John is a danceable and contagious set of music, reflecting themes of naïve love and schoolboy fantasy through sharp lyrics, howling vocals, and firm instrumentation.” –Treblezine

Voted Best Indie Band in Best of the Bay 2008- The Bay Guardian

THE DOWNER PARTY

“If I was walking across the mountains near Lake Tahoe, and say I was hungry, there would be no other band I’d rather eat than The Downer Party. They’re young and have the feel good party indie rock vibe. Lead singer Sierra also did vox for Elephone and she’s well on her way to holding the torch as San Francisco’s premiere female rocker to watch catapult to international celebrity.” -SF Chronicle

Tricycle Records presents: THE RED VERSE

with

STARRY SAINTS / DELLE VELLUMDJ TAKEOVER

redverse

THE RED VERSE
Tricycle Records indie pop trio return to the stage after a songwriting hiatus. The Red Verse combine old country influences with a modern pop aesthetic. Former member of Beulah (Danny Sullivan) joins forces with emerging new songwriter/frontman Alex Oneil and Andrew Galluccio to form the indie pop three piece. ‘Like watching The Edge play guitar for Jonathon Richman’, The Red Verse successfully blend the old sun records sound with fresh new wave post punk guitar.

STARRY SAINTS

Determined to start a new project after the success of earlier projects Allen Davis (Every Move A Picture) and Clint Sargent (The High Violets) started Starry Saints. The idea was to create a confluence of noise, pop, and songcraft. A sound big yet not indulgent, always dynamic, touching on elements of both hifi and lofi. and lyrics laced with melancholy. After a three song demo was completed, keyboardist Jason Wann and bass player Ron Thomas were brought on board. A video shot for the single Go, which won a 94.7 KNRK sponsored contest resulted in their fist show at the Portland Memorial Coliseum opening for The Killers. The band is currently working on their first album and touring the west coast.

DELLE VELLUM

Amazingly rich vocals and a wall of deep and dark guitar sound, Delle Vellum is new to the SF music scene and features ex-members of notable Bay Area bands The Paradise Boys, Madelia and Immigrant.
