"The San Francisco-based quartet channeled a hypothetical marriage of David Byrne and Tears for Fears, their glampop polished to a high sheen...Much to my delight, We Will Be Lions...exuded the sinuous energy of David Bowie hosting a bisexual ménage à trois beneath a disco a ball." -SF Weekly

Midnight Faces

"Midnight Faces unites vocalist Philip Stancil with composer Matthew Doty, who, along with Josh Tillman, a.k.a. Father John Misty, co-founded the post-rock outfit Saxon Shore in the early 2000s. But for Midnight Faces, Doty stays focused on crisp, synth-lined pop drama, as heard on the project's 2013 debut album, Fornication. On May 13, the Los Angeles-based duo will return with The Fire is Gone, a sophomore effort that's due out via Broken Factory. But first comes lead single "Over Again," a darkly shaded track that merges a post-punky bass line with snapping percussion, twinkling sonics, and an ascendant chorus." SPIN

Owenstone

"I’ll tell you what: It’s about his voice. If you can remember back to the days when the radio airwaves were dominated by solid Adult Contemporary Rock that actually rocked and was never easily mistaken for the soundtrack to a commercial for auto insurance, then you’ll probably dig Owenstone. Fronted by remarkably gifted (and, also, hot) vocalist Nathan Owen, this LA-based quintet avoid being pigeonholed by jumping on any current sub-genre bandwagon and just deliver an adhesively melodic song with an accessible message, repeat play appeal and hooks for days. As a wise man once said, they let the Music do the talking. Orchestral touches lift the arrangement but don’t get in the way of the beat." -The Worleygig
