THE WINTER WIZARD FORMAL

Friday January 29th 2016

the Milk Bar presents THE WINTER WIZARD FORMAL

The Y Axes celebrate the birth of their new single, Meteorite, as well as their bassist Jack on a magical night of music and absolutely NO RITUAL SACRIFICES.

Joined by gritty badass wizards Down and Outlaws and regal mages Lords of Sealand this night will surely inspire an unhealthy number of magic puns.

We invite you to join us, whether you are dressed formally, as a wizard, or in a light flannel (a la Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.)

THE Y AXES

The Y Axes are a post-apocalyptic alternative pop band from the San Francisco Bay Area. Drawing influence from a myriad era of popular and esoteric music, they have refined a unique style that is often anthemic but always bittersweet. Intricate melodies, contagious hooks, and snapping rhythms help drive their compelling stories of coming of age in chaos and finding love in the direst of situations. The Y Axes are pop for music nerds.

DOWN AND OUTLAWS

Down and Outlaws are a rock and roll band, pure and simple. Influenced by bands like The Stooges and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, you can call these San Franciscans dirty, bluesy, rootsy; it doesn't really matter, because all four members – Peter Danzig, Kyle Luck, Chris Danzig, and Jon Carr – are determined to put their stamp of rock and roll back on the map, literally and figuratively.

LORDS OF SEALAND

Lords of Sealand come brandishing literary depth and poetic diversity. In a garage in the Outer Sunset of San Francisco, the band of craft-focused musicians blend aspects of classic prog-rock with modern indie rock influences. Their most recent release, the 7-song Found Fiction EP, is album-like in structure with a cohesive focus on storytelling. Melodies triangulate between complex dual guitars and haunting vocals, while the dynamic rhythm section is the rug that really ties the room together.
